What has become of my header image?

I dunno, I die for a few days (what else could excuse the lack of posting?!) and my blog layout goes to pot. Typical.

Promise to post stuff soon, but in the meantime check out Blog Brother.

P.S. So long Jizzzmaster J. x

It's just another...you know the rest...

What a semi-great weekend.

Please notice the use of the hyphen. I read that chapter in “Eats, Shoots and Leaves” on Saturday.

Friday after woik, we had a takeaway from Yummies salmonella emporium. I had a large chicken shish kebab and a slice of Nolly’s mighty meaty pizza. We then played a few rounds of shit-head with the kids (a card game that we abbreviate to “shed” when we play with the young’uns), and I had a bath. A looooooong bath. I got in at about 10:15, and got out at about 2:30am!! Well, I finished one of the books I had on the go “Seduced by Moonlight” by Laurell K Hamilton. I was halfway through it when I got in the bath.

Went to bed, and was rudely awoken by Casey (my 2-year-old niece) jumping on me. Nolly had sent her in to get me up earlier than is normal on a Saturday cos he was pissed off that I had come to bed so late.

I played with Casey for a bit, tidied the kitchen, did some lunch, and then we all piled in the car to go shopping. It absolutely bloody pissed it down and we got a bit wet.

We got home, and Liam (Casey’s big brother) wanted to stay over, which he did. We had tea, watched Dr Who, played shit-head again, and sent the little’uns to bed. I had a biiiig voddie and orange juice to round off the evening. Laaaahvley.

Nolly let me sleep in on Sunday, but then my mom phoned. Spent an hour or so going “yeah, hmm, I know, yeah, oh really?” and then it was time for dinner. Roast chicken (no stuffing! Scandalous!), followed by cheesecake, and accompanied by a couple of glasses of cheap and cheerful rosé, and then I sat in the garden and played with the dogs.

I went and got another book I had on the go, “Life Expectancy” by Dean Koontz. I was about halfway through that one too. Nolly kept stealing it cos he is a big meany. And cos I punched him in the leg cos he wouldn’t let me see a story in the newspaper.

Dena and John (my sister and her husband) turned up at about 3 to collect Liam, and stayed for a drink and a chat. It was very pleasant, until I developed a headache. I think it was drinking beer in the sun that did it. So I took my book to bed at about 4:30. I finished it at about 6:30. I started a new one. It was one Nolly had bought me. He often buys me books, and I’ll read anything so I normally enjoy them. This one was called “Creepers” by David Morrell (who wrote the books the Rambo films were based on, apparently). And it was bloody good! If a bit predictable at the end. It would make a fantastic film.

Notice I said “was”. Past tense. I finished it at 1:15 this morning.

I did have a break, I got up at about 9:30 and had a drink, after an hour I felt rough again, and took myself back to bed. Nolly followed not long afterwards, and he read for a bit, then put the telly on in the bedroom, and then fell asleep. As I said, I finished at 1:15, then I turned my light off, rolled over and fell asleep. Bliss.

So I read one and two half books this weekend. Or, if you divide the fraction down like you’re supposed to, two books.

So now it’s Monday. Procrastination day.

Time to start a new book. “Black House” by Stephen King and Peter Straub. Sequel to “The Talisman”, a book I read about 10 years ago. Thanks Lyndz!

Got that Friday feeling...

Oh yeah, 30 mins and counting till hometime. Probably less by the time I finish writing this. Actually, given that the laws of our universe make time...go... then definitely less by the time I finish this. Especially since I am so vair vair verbose.

Just thought I'd share a little insight before I go home. Straight men and gay women have the rough end of the stick.

I mean, how often (in Britain, at least) do you see a woman with her top off walking down the street? Thankfully (almost) never.

But in summer (or even a warm spring day, such as today), men have nooooo problemo with stripping off and baring their (sometimes) lovely furry chests and stuff.

So, there you go. Eye-candy-a-go-go for the gays. And straight women of course. And except in those cases where the chests should really be left covered.

And finally, look! Jizzzmaster J has jumped on the Paddy-wagon and left us!!
