It's not normal for a baby to laugh like this, surely?

Ok, so I bought Nolly a new Xbox game last week. Fable: Lost Chapters. We already have fable, but Nolly loved it and the Lost Chapters has some extra content.

But it didn't work. It loads the title screen but doesn't respond to the controller. I called the support number that was in the box and they said to try another copy of the game. So I went back to Amazon, reported the game as faulty and they sent out a new copy straight away, which arrived today.

I had the same problem.

So I called the support number again. After putting me on hold for ages, I was told it was because the console needs an update, I need Xbox Live. And I need to pay for the privilege.

I have no need for Xbox Live. I don't play online games on my Xbox. Why, after paying for a game, should I have to pay for Xbox Live just to update my console?

To make matters worse, you can't just sign up to Xbox Live; you have to go to a shop or order online a card with a subscription number on it. I can't believe you can't just make a payment and receive a subscription number in an email or something. Ridiculous.

So does anyone out there have a free trial subscription code from an Xbox game they have bought please? Apparently they are in lots of Live enabled games... just not in any of the ones we have! I would be eternally grateful for an email with a code in it...
