Sorry Landers...

I think I'm falling in love with Richard Dawkins.

Have some random quotes from him to keep you going until I get round to writing about the book I'm reading. These are not just taken from his books, they are from interviews and articles too:

I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world.

My point is not that religion itself is the motivation for wars, murders and terrorist attacks, but that religion is the principal label, and the most dangerous one, by which a "they" as opposed to a "we" can be identified at all.

If people think God is interesting, the onus is on them to show that there is anything there to talk about. Otherwise they should just shut up about it.

It is absolutely safe to say that, if you meet somebody who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid or insane (or wicked, but I'd rather not consider that).

Not a single one of your ancestors died young. They all copulated at least once.

By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out.

I have to say I don't think I'm learning much that's new to me, I'm just thinking about it all in different ways, and having things pointed out to me. And it's truly enlightening!

I like Dawkins because he doesn't care at all whether I like him or not.

That, and the way he happens to agree with me so often. :)

One of the things I'm finding (oddly) refreshing is that often he's not shoving his versions of answers down my throat, he's encouraging me to wonder if I'm even asking the right questions.

I'm definitely going to read some of his other stuff.

I just read "The God Delusion" and it was fantastic although the second half was tougher going.
